Festival Games 2008

Endurance Juggling

Juggle longer than everyone else. Everyone starts at the same time. When you drop, you're out. The last person or team juggling is the winner. No multiplexing.

The following endurance games have been pretty standard:

  • Coin Juggling - Individuals; three or more coins of at least 75 cents total face value. When you drop you must drop all of your coins on the ground. The winner gets to keep all of the coins, but is also responsible for picking them up.
  • Five ball - Individuals; five balls.
  • Four club - Individuals; four clubs.
  • Seven club passing - Teams of two jugglers; seven clubs.

Speed Passing

A team of two jugglers will pass six clubs as fast as they can. There will be two heats of one minute each. The average score of the two heats will determine the winners and ties will be broken first by the best heat score, second by a tie-breaker heat.

A counter will be assigned to each team, and will count the passes in each heat. To simplify the counting, the passes from one of the (up to) four hands on the team will be counted. The team may choose which hand. Any non-multiplexing pattern is allowed, but both jugglers must be doing the same thing, and the team must be juggling exactly six clubs for anything to count.

If a team drops, they may pick up and continue, but teams will not be allowed extra clubs for pick-ups.

Distance Passing

Teams of two jugglers try to pass six clubs while standing as far apart as possible. I don't know the rules! Someone come up with a good set of rules and this will be really fun.

Diabolo Mystery Contest

We're changing things up this year - show up to find out what the rules are to this new contest!

Trials Unicycle Competition

Riders will compete on Duane's massive assortment of unicycle ramps and obstacles.

Three Ball Simon Says

The classic game of Simon says, but done with juggling skills far beyond the ability of the tyrannical Simon, whose goal is to humiliate and debase the hapless competitors.

Club Gathering

I am the club gathering robot. I am programmed only for throwing doublespins at a constant rate. I will throw a series of 30 doublespins at a constant rate for each competitor in the preliminary competition. I will throw longer series of doublespins at a constant rate in the final competition for each competitor who can catch and hold all 30 without dropping in the preliminary round.

Combat

Although many jugglers may be pacifists, combat will sometimes break out, but it will not be rewarded.
